OUR STORY

Our company’s distinguished history started in 1974 as Headline Glass, founded by Pat and Mary Patterson. Initially only taking on simple glass projects, their early clients were impressed by their quality and efficiency. To meet the growing demand, they expanded their services and started handling everything from shower screens to suspended ceilings.

At the age of 18, Pat Patterson started work as a glazier in Melbourne. He first worked for G-James Glass before operating as a subcontractor for Progress Property. 

In 1969, Pat and his wife Mary moved to Queensland from Victoria, where he continued working in his trade. Due to Pat's efficiency and work ethic, he secured more and more work. From shower screens to mirrors and splashbacks, Pat customized anything the customer wanted. 

His passion and determination  eventually led Pat and Mary to start their own company called Headline Glass. Headline Glass was founded in the 70s and become a very successful and well-established company.

In the year 1999, Headline Glass was sold to Pilkington Glass, now known as Viridian.

Ten years later, Patterson Glass was registered and commenced trading. Lee Patterson, son of Pat and Mary Patterson, is the founder of Patterson Glass. Wendy Wheway (nee Patterson), agreed to help Lee as a part-time employee, moving to full-time in later years. Soon, word got around that the Patterson's were back in business, and the company grew rapidly. Year by year, Patterson Glass experienced business growth of around 30%.

Due to the rapid growth and increasing complexities of running a small business, in 2016, Wendy, and her husband Marc Wheway, became partners. While Lee and Wendy are second-generation operators within the glazing industry, Marc is an experienced executive and business leader with a strong foundation in law, business, and industrial relations. He holds an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business. Building on this, Marc completed Master's degrees in Employment Relations and International Relations. Further enhancing his expertise, Marc has completed a Master of Business Law, and he has commenced the Juris Doctor program.

In 2010, Lee Patterson and Wendy Wheway began trading as Patterson Glass. Today the company employs close to 30 staff members. Although we are always growing and improving, we always strive to keep the friendly service and values  we started with. We love working with our neighbours on the Gold Coast, and each client and team member is a part of our family.
